BECOMING A MEMBER
Interested in joining us?
Our gallery and artisan market is open year round, 5 days a week, Tuesday through Saturday. The odd time we may be open for exhibit openings in the evening. This facilitates continuous exposure of your art to the public. Currently, we have space for 1 or 2 new members and are particularly interested in a woodworker, silversmith, sculptor and/or other unusual creative talent.
We are equipped to handle debit & credit card sales and also offer gift certificates for sale.
We advertise through radio and social media.
There is a one time joining fee of $10, a $20/month membership fee and 20%/sales fee (other retail outlets usually charge 50%). These fees cover the cost of rent, advertising, office supplies and utilities.
Each member is required to share the task of tending the gallery market. Shifts are 3 hours long; depending on the number of members and the number of shifts to be filled this will range from 3 to 6 shifts per month (1.5 to 3 days). Your art is promoted and available for sale year round whether you are on shift or not. Also, members are required to share in a variety of duties needed for the operation of the co-op.
Prospective new members to the Courthouse Gallery must have their art pass through a jury process to be accepted as a member. This art must pass a jury first by members who work in that medium (eg. pottery by potters). If accepted, then all current members will have a vote to accept or reject that new member.
Please only make a submission if our purpose and artistic values resonate with you and you are willing to play an active role in attending our meetings and taking part in the gallery staffing and events.
