People have been asking if Bizarre BAZAAR will be back, and we’re happy to say, YES!  The weekly celebration of local artists, crafters, and entrepreneurs returns for 2008.  Due to construction at the Old Courthouse, this year the Bazaar moves to the Flag Plaza across from Interior Savings Centre each Thursday evening, 4pm - 8pm, through the summer.  Items will include paintings, photography, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, stained glass, clothing, candles, agri and food products and much more. Drop in to Cunliffe House on Thursday evening to see the co-op members new work in the Courthouse Gallery space.

To entertain, each week until Music in the Park begins, two local acts perform a live set for Bazaar patrons. See our music lineup below.

The Kamloops Arts Council has an absolutely fabulous array of workshops and demonstrations this month in conjunction with the Bizarre Bazaar! The workshops are open to the public and are outdoors. Come and try your hand at some new techniques, or just come and watch!

An awe-inspiring show of clay-art not to be missed at Cunliffe House Gallery's presentation of Bonnie Keats pottery coffee table bowls, wall murals and other works.

Thursday, June 12th - AIP Banners and Silkscreening Demonstration
Trina Radford will be demonstrating the art of silkscreening. Stop by and try your hand at silkscreening!

Thursday, June 19th - Lumiere Series Part 1 with Wenda Noonan
This is a wonderful opportunity for you to try out paper lantern making, or lumieres as they are sometimes known. Wenda Noonan will demonstrating how to make paper lanterns and passerbys will get to try making their own. Make a paper lantern and join the Lumiere Parade at Art in the Park on July 1st!

Thursday, June 26th - Lumiere Series Part 2 with Doug Buis
Doug Buis will be demonstrating the second of the paper lantern workshops. He will be demonstrating a second type of Lantern. You don’t need Part 1 to attend Part 2.

Art Pruce is a young singer/songwriter who has been slowly and steadily building a fan base. His musical style speaks to a broad demographic and has drawn comparisons to James Taylor and John Denver while maintaining a unique country vibe.

Brenda Lively is a singer /songwriter. Having played at venues around town for a couple years, she is in the process of recording her first pop/folk album at a local studio. At Bizarre BAZAAR she'll play mostly original songs, on guitar and keyboard, with a few covers mixed in.

 

June 26, 2008 - 4-6pm

Margit Hiemstra and Bodie Shandro form the the talented duo Whiskey Tango. A regular on the music circuit at Sun Peaks, they play an eclectic mix of covers and originals from a wide variety of genres from hard rock to country.
